Teenagers- You gotta love ‘em April 16, 2008

Today’s topic is teenagers. When you think of teenagers you most likely think of troublemakers, or those kids that broke your window last Friday. Well that maybe true but they all aren’t that bad.

The real topic is what teenagers need from their parents as little kids, young adults and as adults. When these people were little they depended on their parents for everything. They needed so much from their parents like: love, attention, food, shelter, and care. Now as young adults they don’t need those things so much anymore. All they need now is the basics; food, shelter, love, and discipline.

The most important thing a parent can give a teenager is space. They need their time by themselves and with their friends. To me my friends are like a whole new family, a new group of people to care about and give them the advice and help they need. If a parent gives them a lot of space they will know that their parents understand them and that they can tell them things that are going on. Now this leads to the topic of what makes a parent a good one?

To me being a good parent means being there for your kids. If your teenager gets in a fight with her/his best friend, just being there to listen to the story. Giving them the advice they need when they need it and giving them their space. To these people space and freedom is everything. That is just my opinion. Tell me yours by leaving me a comment.

TED Talks April 16, 2008

TED Talks

TED Talks is a conference for Technology, Entertainment and Design. It costs a lot of money to go to this conference and speak to the other people that have paid to show you what goes on. Our class is having our own TED Talks and now it is coming to an end. We want to show you what it has been like to research this project and to teach you about it too.

The project that I worked on was Biodiversity. Biodiversity is all the living things on Earth that include: plants, animals, micro-organisms and the ecosystems they live in. Researching this project is hard work.

Researching this project was hard work because there was so much information and some of the sites had false information. False information can give you the wrong idea on what your topic needs and you need to be aware of that. Look at the information on the website to see what the content in it is. Look at other sites to see if they have the same information as the one site you were looking at. The content of my project comes from many of the sites I looked at as they had the same information.

The content of my project had no statistics and I could don’t find any graphs to show anything. Also there is nothing being done to help keep biodiversity safe from loggers. I think there should be laws against these problems and there should be only a certain amount of trees to be cut down each day.

Recycling: What can it do? April 14, 2008

Did you ever wonder what happens to after logging cuts homes, food and family to animals. I have. That is why I have researched this topic. Logging is one of many plant technologies that is being used. Logs are essential to our living as they make paper, homes for humans, and many other things too.

If you think about it recycling reduces the amount of trees cut down and it helps the environment too. That’s always good. It seems that many people do recycle but not enough, so I think that it should be a law to recycle in Canada,oh, and the punishment should be 1 hour of community service for each item you have not recycled. ( That means I would have to do a LOT of hours.)

Down the road to Success April 11, 2008

The road to success has many stops to make as many things make you successful. The hard part is choosing the stop that will leave you successful. There is the happiness stop. Is happiness that stop you want to make? Will happiness do well for you? There are the same questions for all the other millions of stops to choose from. If you really think about it, there is a secret to these stops. Every stop makes you have a successful life in the end.

To me, success is just around the corner. There are many steps to take, but it is all worth it in the end. Success to me is going to college, getting a well-paying job and having a family that cares about you. Even if I were a homeless person and had my family I would be as happy as a millionaire or even a billionaire. Family is the most important part of success.

Family is the people that you are close to, the ones that are there when you need a shoulder to cry on. They are the ones that cheer you on to live a successful life. This is the people that you need to life a happy life.

Happy + Success = The Good Life

Culture in a Box April 11, 2008

Culture is manifested in music, literature, lifestyle, painting and sculpture, theater and film and similar things. To me culture is the religion we live by, food we eat, and by the language we speak. There is many types of culture too. Different foods belong to different cultures. There are different languages for the different cultures. Sometimes the language is the same, but the culture is completely different.

If your culture was in harm and you could put only 3 things into that box what would they be?

That question is easily answered for me. I would put my religion, food, and my language into that box. The answer to this question will most likely be different to people from another culture. It would be interesting to see the answer from a person from another culture.
